i keep getting requests to update my blog, so here it is...

happy holidays, merry christmas, happy kwanzaa, and happy hanukkah!

this year has gone by so quickly, i haven't been able to catch my breath. it's already almost 2007, and the decade flew by. it feels like just yesterday, that we were prepping for the millennium...

anyways, i wanted to update everyone on what's been going on. first and foremost, i'm assuming you all must have received my xmas card or ecard...if not, you i probably had a very old email address of yours...

i've been pretty busy the past week, as i've been helping my soon to be brother in law, do an install at the famed wilshire theater in LA. this has been an amazing experience for me, because i get to see the inner workings of the theater, and i also take part in the set up of all the audio, video and lighting equipment. it is a huge undertaking, and i'm learning a lot about the production industry.

i also got my work permit!!! whoohoo!!! after a long and arduous process, it has finally come through. what does this mean, you ask...well, it means i can now work in the USA legitimately, without having to chase the work truck at 5 am in the morning, with all my mexican brothers and sisters...

this also means that interviews for jobs won't be in vain anymore...as a matter of fact, i've had 2 very promising interviews at the home depot center (that's the soccer stadium for those that don't know...not the store!!!!) and with the la clippers...i'm also collaborating with a friend of mine that works with ABC family, to develop an upcoming show idea about sports...and, to top it all off, i also have an interview this friday with ESPN...that's right, ESPN!!! whoohooo!!!

i can't wait for christmas...i know back home in toronto, the weather is a little more milder, so at least that means that when we're in NYC next week, it won't be so bad.

so with that, i wish all of you an awesome holiday, drink lots, eat lots, and love lots.

peace out,

randy

i really do suck at this blogging. my friends keep making mention that i haven't submitted a new blog, and every time they check my page, there are the same 3 posts...

i had so much good stuff to write about, but i either just can't get to a computer, i'm lazy, or i just forget. nonetheless, i'm trying. even if they are just small posts, i'll try to get them on there.

i missed my us thanksgiving post, and nikki's birthday post. i suck!

let's see if i can't make up for lost time...shall we...

thanksgiving was a blast here in LA. i never really experienced an american thanksgiving, considering, we canadians celebrate thanksgiving in october. the meal was...well, let's just say it was gluttonous. it was the first time i tried a deep fried turkey, and it really tasted like chicken. we also had sausage stuffed mushrooms, green bean casserole, candied yams, ham, hash brown pie, gravy, stuffing, cranberry...yikes. you definitely do not want to see the post thanksgiving bathroom...

we also celebrated nikki's birthday on wednesday, the 29th. she's been hinting on what's she wants for her birthday, but i did one better. i got us tickets to watch wicked on broadway in nyc. i knew she wanted to see it, and i knew it was coming to LA in february, but i figured, that since we'll be in ny for new years, why not watch it where broadway was born...good o'l new york city.

nikki and i went on our weekly date thing-a-ma-bob last night. we went to downtown disney, and watched "the nativity story". pretty good movie about the story of mary and joseph and the birth of jesus. i was kind of hoping there was going to be this huge battle between the people of jerusalem rebelling against king herod, but alas, there was none. after jesus was born, the movie ended, but i'm sure there will be a sequel...oh wait, there was one, passion of the christ...

i've also been closely following my toronto raptors, as i subscribed to nba league pass. so far, i've enjoyed watching them play. a far cry from actually being at the acc everyday, but at least i don't miss any games. they beat boston yesterday, and moved into 2nd place in the very weak eastern conference. how pitiful is that being in 2nd with a 6-10 record. oh well...

for all my peeps back in toronto, the weather has gotten a little cooler now, if you consider 60 degrees cooler. but at least i have to wear a long sleeve now...or not.

peace...

well, it's been awhile, but i'm still getting used to this blogging business.

i don't know what it is about being in LA, but there always seems to be something going on. just the other day, the big news was kramer from seinfeld going on a racial tirade at a comedy club here in LA...the day before that, oj simpson was going to be interviewed by fox (which they now canceled) about how he would have "did it"...the day before that, was tomkat's scientology wedding...and the week before that was britney dumping kevin.

...honestly, the crap just doesn't stop in this town. oh, and i also found out that this friday is apparently called "black friday", as in the biggest shopping day of the year!!!! i'm sure all the stores will be packed with high security, considering the crap that happened when they launched the PS3...but don't worry, only a couple of fights, some stabbings, and only a couple of gun shots. all that, just to have people sell them all over the internet for 3-4X the price they paid. you got to love the red white and blue.

last weekend, i was in carslbad california, which was roughly around an hour south of orange county. very close to san diego...what a great little community, great surfing beach, and great shopping. who knew that you can get this type of serenity so close to LA, but not really in LA? but who am i kidding, they're still considered southern california.

that's my update for now...look for my new post after black friday...

peace out,
randy

well, here is yet another post. i know that it's supposed to be daily, but who gives a sh*t...i'm trying to stay as updated as possible, so deal with it!

well, what can i say about what's happened since my last blog...hmmm, let's see...

well, from what i can remember, nikki and i went to this club on friday night called mai tai...it was out in downtown long beach. now i've only been to downtown long beach a couple of times, but its a pretty nice place, and there wasn't much traffic to get there. we were meeting up with nikki's sister and her friends, as well as my cousins as well. we got there just after 9pm, there was no line up, and the cover was on $5 bucks. there was a live reggae band and it was happy hour too, which meant cheap drinks. the band played lots of bob marley and ub40...some pretty good stuff. all in all, we had a really good time. i drank lots of heffenweizen (i think) and a long beach ice tea. the waitress even spilled a drink on me...i think she was trying to make a move (don't worry, nikki was with me).

we got home roughly before 1 pm. i'm surprised i actually stayed awake that late...i'm usually out by 11. oh well...maybe i'm getting younger.

saturday was also a very eventful day, as nikki and i helped work a halloween party out in claremont. this place was up in the hills, the house was gorgeous and the view was spectacular. not to mention, the host had 3 mercedes in the driveway, an AMG V8, es 550, and an suv...plus, he had 2 choppers in the garage. in total, probably half a million dollars in the driveway...yikes. we set up some of the decorations, and we saw some of the best costumes. but of course, there was the slutty nurse, the gold digger, and naughty angels. nice...
my feet were killing me, but it was a great night.

that sums up the weekend for nikki and i. i hope that next week is just as eventful.

well, this is my first post into the world of blogs. i have no idea what a blog is, but apparently everyone is doing it...so i'm going to try it.

from what my friends have told me, you just write down what's going on with you so that you can forcibly share it with people...ie. imposing your problems on others, even though they don't care to know about it...( i think that's the jist of it)

well, i won't bombard anyone with my problems, i'll just use this as a means to sell my amway products...just kidding.

i've been here in LA for about 2 months now, and in that time, i planned a wedding, got married, went on my honeymoon, got my social security, got my california driver's licence, and got fingerprinted...plus, i competed in a the long beach dragonboat festival, joined 24 hr fitness, witnessed some sport called disc golf, watched the three's company marathon, got hooked on grey's anatomy and the wire, and got an awesome blender for a wedding present.

...not bad considering, i'm still not working. i've been waiting for my damn work permit to come from the dept of homeland security. ahhh, gov't workers, they sure know how to get things done around here...and for all my friends at maple leaf sports, for your sake, i hope the raptors and leafs do well this year...but for my sake, i hope they tank and everyone get's fired!

i'm not sure what the fascination is with jamba juice, but it's big. but the funny thing is...with everyone trying to be super health conscience here, i wonder why every restaurant serves super huge portions of food? can someone really eat 5 lbs of food at one sitting? is it really necessary to have mash potatoes, gravy, garlic bread, rice, cream of corn, and two batter fried country fried steaks for one person as one meal? and all you can drink strawberry lemonade? according to Hof's Hut, you can!!!

i really am getting the hang of things out here...i've even learned how to take the freeways with no problems (except that i had to learn that north is east, and south is west...or something like that) and that the 91 goes to the 605 which then goes towards the 60 or 105, which hits the 405, then the 101, and 110 and 71, back to the 15, to the 215, to the 55, and then to the 57 ...

...and one more thing...CARPOOL people!!!!! it makes such a huge difference!!!

that's it for now...i'll try to make usual updates if i can...but i hope you enjoy this one!

peace out from the west side
